The San Francisco Tobacco Free Coalition is a grassroots coalition of health,youth-serving, and environmental agencies formed in 1990 has successfully advocated for several tobacco control ordinances in San Francisco.

However the Coalition is aware that while many regulations have been enacted on the State and local level, the tobacco industry has shifted its focus to international markets to ensure its growth and profits.

Given the behavior of the tobacco industry both here and abroad, the Coalition believes that the US has an obligation to negotiate the FCTC from a global perspective rather than a domestic perspective.
